O'Sullivan Island (an actual peninsula with ample parking) sits on the confluence of the Naugatuck and Housatonic rivers. Kayak or paddleboard along the lush tree lined waterways as fish break the surface and birds take flight overhead. Nothing is as nurturing to the soul as being on the water and immersing yourself in nature. With not one but two rivers to explore you will need to return often to discover everything there is to offer here in this undiscovered gem!
The Derby Greenway has a lovely, paved path along the river where you can enjoy biking for all ages. We carry youth to adult bicycles as well as trailers for our youngest outdoor enthusiasts.
Helmets provided at no additional cost.
Please take note that the Derby location has no changing facilities (there is a port-o-let). Please come prepared with everything you need for an enjoyable day on the water. Hats, sunscreen, water, towels, bathing suit, WATER SHOES or Flipflops are a must.

Improvements Coming Soon!
The City of Derby is busy working on widening the main road through the center of town. They are also planning a large development in the very near future to include housing, business spaces, fields, parking garage improvements and more. Along with progress, comes a bit of a mess. Lots of construction happening in and around the center but it moves smoothly and efficiently even if it doesn't look its best.
The road leading to O'Sullivan Island (Factory Street) is itself, part of the progress and therefore you will see some construction areas and some work trucks but STAY THE COURSE! Once you get to the parklike grounds and serene river you will remember what you are there for. Follow the yard signs to Scoot & Paddle.
